About Coach Vicky
I grew up in Southern California surrounded by some of the best fastpitch softball players in the country.
I played for the original Firecrackers organization back when there was only one team, competing alongside athletes who were committed to Power 5 schools and nationally ranked programs. The level was elite, and from a young age I learned what high standards, hard work, and competition really looked like.
But despite the environment I was in, not everyone believed in my future.
At one point, I was told by a coach to “not shoot so high” and to stop aiming for Division 1 softball.
I didn’t listen.
Instead, I kept working.
Eventually, I earned a full Division 1 scholarship to Idaho State University, where I went on to become one of the most accomplished players in program history. I helped lead the program to three conference championships, shattered school records, earned national recognition, and was later inducted into the Idaho State Athletics Hall of Fame.
But one of the biggest moments of my life came after college.
I was not drafted into the professional league.
Most people would have taken that as the end of the road.
Instead, I booked a one-way plane ticket to a Chicago Bandits tryout.
There were over 50 athletes competing for just two open roster spots.
I made the team.
That same season, we won the professional world championship.
As a rookie, I got to play with and against many of the athletes I had looked up to for years. I caught for Monica Abbott during our championship run, competed against legends like Cat Osterman and Keilani Ricketts, and proved to myself that belief, resilience, and persistence can take you places talent alone cannot.
(fun fact- that picture above is my home run off Cat Osterman!)
That journey shaped how I coach today.
Because the truth is: every athlete will hear doubt at some point.
People will underestimate you.
They’ll question your goals.
They’ll tell you something is unrealistic.
But sometimes all you need is your own voice saying:
“Yes, I can.”
That belief changes everything.
Now, through The Clutch Hitters Club, I get to help athletes build not only their skills, but the confidence, resilience, mindset, and competitive mentality needed to chase big goals — even when nobody else sees the vision yet.
Because the athletes who make it are usually the ones who refused to quit when things got hard.
